HDMI from the PS4 to an HDMI switch and then into the TV optical out of the TV into a headphone amp/dac
so basicly the PS4 is sending out 5.1 because my TV speakers have this weird virtual surround thing so the PS4 see's it as a 5.1 source and then im sending stereo out of the TV via optical so when i plug my headphones in im losing half the sound
a good example of the bad audio was when i was playing until dawn i could barely hear any of the dialogue even with the volume cranked all the way up, killzone shadowfall sounds very thin and distant, the last of remastered was very loud in music and gunshots and stuff like that but just like until dawn i could barely hear the dialogue
i don't use the TV's headphone out and changing the HDMI settings on the TV doesn't do anything for the optical output
i dont understand why i simply can't tell the PS4 to output stereo, i have options for stereo on my xbox one, xbox 360, wii U and the PS3 has tons of audio settings
it's got to the point now where i barely use my PS4 anymore because of this audio problem
