Are you moving into Europe permanently??
You might want to consider carrying on using your US Account.
Only.... DLC from the European PS Store won't work with US Games.
When your current US Banking Cards expire.. you can purchase Network and Voucher TopUps for your US Account from online retailers or bring some with you. Many web sites sell US Cards.
Doing this will keep your Trophies, Game Saves etc. You will be using your US Account as if you were still in the States. Simple really.

Thanks for headsup. From Ireland, moving back from US after a couple of years so have been using my Irish primarily apart from a couple of instances so I think in most cases I'm covered, fingers crossed!

Yes, I'm clearly monitoring this thread because I'm not having any problems. Excellent detective work. It's OK to be miffed about a lack of tangible response, but boy, I have to see it as understandable. Sony isn't going to invite bad press by publicizing an issue that effects a hyper-minority of total PS4 owners. Nonetheless, I'm sure they'll provide a fix when one becomes available. That is, if someone else in here doesn't find a way past it first. Endlessly wailing that "this sucks they just want our moneys" is ridiculous. Sony didn't push an update to spite the user base, they're a multifaceted company, not an insidious repair shop. I doubt they're even equipped to receive 40000+ PS4s. You're right--they are a business. But it would best serve their business interests to provide a small update for us. Stop groveling.

Bring PS4 from US to Ireland
No Problemo... it can get confusing with DLC and different Regions.
I have a Swiss Account and if I ever moved to another Region.. I'd want to keep my Account going... We are supposed to create an Account for the Country we move to. Which again, confuses a lot of people as they think they lose everything by making a new Account.
Basically, just activate the Accounts as Primary and you can share to the other Accounts on the Console... Think people forget that they can do this.
It's Cross-Regions that are not compatible when it comes to DLC.. Moving around in the same Region is fine.
Anyways, if you know what you are doing.. I'll leave it at that.
I can chat to a Brick Wall and still be entertained. LOL

5.0 Update Won't Install
UPDATE: Unplugging it and replugging it in did not help. I tried to reinitialize the software from scratch on the advice of Sony support, but I keep getting told that the update file cannot be used (CE-34799-0 is the code I get, if that helps)
My system's a few years old and never had a problem, and is now out of warranty. They want me to pay for a repair. I don't want to pay triple digits to fix something that was working fine before a mandatory update that somehow trashed my system.

Well, I solved my problem, my driver wasn't broken, was just bad contact of the cables. When my driver was able to read the disk again the download happened. Its a shame for sony, releasing such a desgraceful update. Shame on you Sony, nect gen ill be in Xbox for sure, im done with this bulls.

Might need to use the full installation file (900ish mb). You'll find this with information on the same page you downloaded the smaller update file. It will be at the bottom of the page

Starting the PS4 in safe mode (holding on until 2nd beep) and using a second cord in the other USB slot worked to turn on my controller

Well, they won't address the problem, maybe we have to file a lawsuit against the company for selling defective products that wear out, if anyone wants to join me I'll be looking up the steps I need to take to do this.
