I have the slim version. I knew my disc drive was broken but I had the part replaced at a local UBreakIFix store and they ran the update right at the store and it worked.

When in safe mode, restore to default settings. You will have to change things back to the way they were but it fixed it for me. No game progress or anything like that gets deleted it’s just the fact that you have to change your wallpaper or date and time, stuff like that

Sounds like faulty Blu Ray or fan, I got a bad drive and am getting the same error. I never use it, buy games digitally. This is just a ploy for Sony to nickel and dime consumers.

Seriously guys, from the looks of it, there is nothing preventing someone from bringing up a class-action lawsuit. Every single PS4 that was sent in for repair from this error code and similar ones because support literally LIED to them, should be refunded fully, and the hardware check should not be in future updates. Anyone with legal connects?

For me, sometimes the update fails before it can completely restart and gives me a different error. Sometimes it completes the download, but when it restarts to install and boots up again in safe mode, the playstation gives me the error message you all are talking about. This is somekind of different reason I believe due to it giving me 2 different errors at 2 different times. If it is still the same reason as your's though, then I agree. This happened with update 5.00 as well to all playstations with a faulty disk drive, and my friend's (the playstation with this error) had this issue. The warranty he had if he even had one, would have been invalid because he purchased this in about 2014 or 2015. The updates that involve software interacting with hardware will not work because the software can't be put onto anything that it can't read or access such as a faulty disk drive. So my friends dad got another disk drive and installed it onto the playstation and after retrying the update multiple times, he finnaly succeeded. With this error, you need to wait until someone finds out what piece of hardware is stopping the update and fix/replace it. I have no idea what else can be done.

i have personally spent thosands on add-ons and i spoke with someone trying to fix this issue, after attempts to solve the issue, he suggested to bring it in. i explained that i am capable to fix the hardware issue like i have in the past (theres is no issue obv) i complained and told them i will switch to pc. they need to know we will not resort to their solutions. i have thought of just dropping it completely but i enjoy playing with friends. lets hurt their pockets if they dont fix this

Yes possibly. In update 5.00 a few months back, the playstation would not update because of a faulty disc drive. The same can possibly be said for this update as well. Read my previous post if you have any questions or concerns about my liability or statement.
