Error (SU-42118-6) when updating to 5.5?
I came to this slightly late, as I initially updated to firmware 5.50 without issues, although my hard drive then failed and I received the SU-42118-6 error code referred to.
Upon switching back to my previous hard drive, I was prompted to install the 5.50 firmware via usb stick.
When push came to shove, it said I couldn't use the data, and whilst safe mode was displayed onscreen, the only option was to press "x" and turn off the console.
After a few rinse and repeats, I booted into the multi-option safe mode by holding down the power button, chose option three, and it then copied the update information automatically from the usb stick to the console.
Everything else was on the rails and just had to play itself out, including a requirement to rebuild the hard drive database, but mine's back in play.
Two points that may be relevant: (a) whilst initially intact, I deleted the firmware 5.50 "data" from my console through the notifications option, i.e. post installation of the software, and (b) my optical drive has been replaced wholesale via a replacement purchase on ebay, which seemingly wasn't material either way.
This particular firmware doesn't seem to be too user friendly though.

Ps4 no picture
I was playing the last of us on playstation ow when all of a sudden my screen goes black the sound keeps playing but no picture. I cant fund the problem its not the monitor or the hdmi cable and every so often the screen will flash wth picture but it could be have weird pixel colours over it

Thank you for the help, but now I think I have found a way around it. just had to go to my picture editing site I used to do my pictures for YouTube, redownload them and put those onto the ps4. But thankyou for the great advice for next time if this option fails :)

I erased all online- and systemgamedata. I choose Option 5 in the safe mode (restore databank). Nothing changes.
Problems are still there...The disc is brandnew, the console is 2 months old.

The problem is to do with the system language. I just had to change mine to German (as I bought it in Gemrnay) play the game once, then I could turn it back to English and it works fine.
