I imagine you could just manually check every installed game and app for updates, rather than deleting them.
A bit of a pain, granted, but if it gets around the issue it may be worth it..

I have the same issue. Even if I just turn on the PS4 and start the game immediately (Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris), the fan goes nuts. The PS4 is very well ventilated and kept clean and free of dust.

Hey. I have a bit of a issue on my PS4 which I have read on the Sony website can be fixed with a rebuild database. I don't know if this is normal but the screen goes blank, the line on the PS4 goes blue then orange and then off completely after going through the options in safe mode, is this normal, and if it does this should I just leave it be for a few hours. You would think if this was the case, there would be some indicator it wasn't simply off, and actually doing something.

Ok, for me I had to restart my PS4. I had safely removed my external HDD from the PS4 (which had a lot of game son it) the day before and put it to sleep. The next day, I got the error code. Upon restarting my PS4, it rebuilt my database and there has been no more errors.
