Thanks for the reply.  I have literally tried everything I can think of.

I have run options 4, 5 & 6 in safemode and have reset my network.  Still the same error.  Think I’m going to have to give customer services a call and see if they can reset that part of my account. I’m fairly sure it’s related to an issue I’ve had for a while with the PS appp on my phone not displaying my friends list or my follow list...

I wonder if it's worth clearing the cache and data on the PS app to effectively sign you out on that, delete it then see if it makes any difference to the PS4?

The voucher code you entered is not valid.

Most common reasons are:

  • Code has been entered incorrectly.
  • The code you are trying to redeem has expired or is not active yet.
  • Your PSN account region does not match the voucher's region.
  • Your account does not meet the condition that the voucher is limited to.

Suggestions:

  1. Make sure that the code is entered correctly.
  2. Check if the code's date is valid, and also check if the voucher has any restrictions of usage.

PS4 wont turn on (tried the usual)

Hi,

yesterday my ps4 just turned off. I tried to turn it back on, it just beeps, and the blue light flashes for less than a second. Sometimes it doesn't do anything atall when I try and turn it on

I spent hours last night trawling forums etc, and tried various things, including...safe mode, (didn't go into safe mode) holding buttons down varying lengths of time, while having varying things plugged in/not plugged in, using other wall sockets, sacrificing sack boy keyrings...

I did try another lead, but will try and get another brand new one this weekend, just incase.

BACKSTORY

I got it in May 2016. I'd wanted a ps4 since launch, but couldn't justify it. I always said if they did and uc4 one, that would be my excuse. I preordered within an hour of it going up. For the first 18 months it was barely used, I'd say an average of once a month. Sometimes it would go months without being used. (Another story) The last few months it's been used pretty much everyday, for a few hours a day. It's vertical, in a proper stand. (The picture means it has to be vertical).

It had barely been on when it turned itself off. It wasn't overheating, the fan hadn't kicked in, and it was barely warm to the touch. There had been a power cut a few days before. It had been in rest mode when the power went. The power kept going off and on, about half a dozen times. When i turned the ps4 back on, it said it had to repair itself, but it was ok after. I have an external hardrive, and it's plugged into a good quality surge protector.

QUESTIONS

1. Is there anything else I could try to do to fix it?

2. I saw  a video that said to put washers under the screws. Wondering if this is a thing, and if it is, why it would work?!

3. If I send it back to Sony for repairs, will they send me mine back?

4. If they don't send me mine back, will they send me an uc4 one? I love my console soooooo much. I paid extra for an uc4 one, and surely I should get the same type back?

5. If they don't guarantee to send like for like, does a local repair shop seem viable, or would it he better for me to hit it randomly with a hammer?

6. My horizon disc is still in there, I tried to get it out, but I don't have any screwdrivers atm that will fit into the gear hole. Is there another way of getting the disc out?

Thankyou so much in advance for any help, I'm so upset and gutted.

Aww mate. Gutted for ya Sherbs.

Hopefully some of the tech heads here might have an idea to help.

I cant even tell you what the chances are of Sony sending you your console back either tbh.

Dont take the hammer (or washers?)  to it yet...

Aw heck.

1. Is there anything else I could try to do to fix it?

Do you have a spare 2.5" hdd you could try in place of the system hdd that's in there now?

You can't get into safe mode at all?

2. I saw  a video that said to put washers under the screws. Wondering if this is a thing, and if it is, why it would work?!

Well, it kind of is, but usually it's because the heatsink isn't making contact properly and the washers act as shims to get a better fit.

Your problem seems to have arisen out of the power outages rather than that problem.

3. If I send it back to Sony for repairs, will they send me mine back?

Possibly, but there are no guarantees, there's a high chance you might get a different one

4. If they don't send me mine back, will they send me an uc4 one? I love my console soooooo much. I paid extra for an uc4 one, and surely I should get the same type back?

Same answer I'm afraid, you get what they have available, which is almost certainly going to be a standard slim

5. If they don't guarantee to send like for like, does a local repair shop seem viable, or would it he better for me to hit it randomly with a hammer?

Don't hit it. You'll ruin the beautiful case!

I'd only use a local shop if they have some experience and a success rate of working on PS4s

6. My horizon disc is still in there, I tried to get it out, but I don't have any screwdrivers atm that will fit into the gear hole. Is there another way of getting the disc out?

Not safely, no. Exercise patience and remove it safely.

Thankyou so much for the help, well, there's a new development...

I got a new lead. Plugged it in, it worked! It said it had to fix itself, then it said the external hard drive had to fix itself, as it hadn't been disconnected properly. That took about an hour. I was hopeful it was ok, but worried. I went to  my library...BOOM, it went off again. Changed fuse in the new plug a few times, it didn't fix it. Ugh. Idk what to do, or what might be happening. I'm actually gonna cry.

Do you have a spare 2.5" hdd you could try in place of the system hdd that's in there now?
You can't get into safe mode at all?

No, but I can see how much they are, incase that might be the issue. What would I do, literally just swap it out? I know I'm being dumb, but would it still know it was a playstation lol where is that info stored, I'd have to add it back, right... Ok just googled it lol I need 1gb usb and a pooter. I don't have a pooter. It also says to save game saves etc, but I can't get those from ps4, as it wont turn on. I'll still try and replace the drive tho, if you think that might help. I don't mind gambling if they don't cost toooo much.

No, it wont go into safe mode. It doesn't even make the beeps other people say it's meant to make. Wah!

Thankyou for the help so far, This sucks. It was hardly even used.

Forgot to say, I'm not sure if this happened before or after the power cut,I think it was before, but one day I turned it on, and it said it hadn't been turned off properly then.

Also, I forgot to take the disc out. Doh!

Their are multiple things that have gone wrong with my playstation 4. I have two controllers and both of them have started to move randomly, for example I could be on the home menu and as I navigate it will begin to violently move in one position, it doesn't do this constantly however. And another thing wrong with BOTH controllers is that  when I use the L1 button the playstation thinks Im pressing the L2 Button, and I don't have any custom button assignments, so I cant use L1 in any games as a result. And I know what your thinking... if its both controllers acting up and doing the exact same things then surely its something to do with the PS4 itself, right? Well that was what I thought, until i tested both the controllers on my PS3, and the exact same problems were occurring on that system to... so it must be something to do with controllers right?

I have searched the web for any answers or solutions but i cant find anything. the problems are preventing me from playing any games, Any help will be appreciated.

I don't want you to go to the additional expense of buying a new hdd , just if you had one available it would have been something to try.

So try unplugging the console from the mains for half an hour or so.

Then give it another try, maybe even try booting straight to safe mode by holding the power button on the console until you hear a second beep.

One other thing you could try if that gets nowhere is the following.

 Ok, so if the PS4 is booted without a hdd, the light bar will stay blue and you'll see the PS logo as usual on your tv, then it should go to this screen;

$_86

If the console stays on then there is some hope the problem is just with the hdd, but if it shuts itself down as before, then it's more likely it is a different system hardware fault.

If you wanted you could try removing your hdd and see if you can get to this point, but only if you are comfortable doing that. As long as no other hdd is inserted then your original hdd should stay fine.

At least trying this doesn't involve any more immediate expense.

To remove the hdd:

  1. Turn off the PlayStation 4 system
  2. Unplug the power, HDMI, and any other cables from the back of your PlayStation 4 system.
  3. Place the PlayStation 4 on a clean, flat surface in front of you, so the front of the system is on the left. (The PlayStation logo on the top of the PlayStation 4 should be on the right hand side).
  4. Place your palms on the top panel and let your fingers rest on the far side of the system.
  5. Apply moderate, even pressure near the seam with your palms, and using your fingers as leverage, slide the top panel away from you.  A click will be heard, and the panel will move about 7mm. Lift the panel off starting from the left side.

  1. With the top panel removed, you'll see a screw with the PlayStation symbols on it.  Remove this by turning the screw anti-clockwise to remove the HDD.
  2. Pull the HDD toward the front of the system to remove it.

DS4 v1 controller cuts out with console but works with remote play

$

Hi all

My DS4 controller will always work for around 10 mins with the console but then begins to become intermittently unresponsive, before cutting out completely. When it begins to become unresponsive, the light bar on the controller flickers (I.e. Not a regular flashing). Plugging the controller into the console does not make a difference to this. However, the controller functions correctly with remote play, either over bluetooth on my phone or wired to my laptop. Although I have noticed that the light bar flashes red with a regular pattern when using it like this.

Things I have tried:

- Resetting the controller

- Fully charging the controller using an independent dc power supply

- Replacing the battery

I haven't managed to find these specific symptoms on the forums. Does anyone have any ideas to fix this please?

Thanks,

Pete
