External HDD problem
They don't sound like HDD problems.
Do a database rebuild and check for updates in safe mode.
It might sort stuff out.
External HDD problem
By the way, everything recognizes the external hdd, even my TV, I already used it to watch a movie on my TV. It's brand new too, bought it 2 weeks ago.
External HDD problem
Thank you, I'll do that.
External HDD problem
There's possibly a partition or other software already on the HDD, if there is you will need to use a PC to remove them before it will work on the PS4.
External HDD problem
I don't think so, cause I already formatted it and used my pc on the device management options to check if there's something, but I will check on that, thank you

PS4 won't support external hard drive
My PS4 crashed while I was in the middle of a game, so I turned it off and back on. When it came back on, it said my Sonnics 2TB hard drive was "unsupported" and came up with the error code CE-41901-5. It claimed my hard drive only had a capacity of 4.15GB which isn't true. I tried to format it as exFAT, but it again came up with error code CE-30005-8. I also tried putting the PS4 into safe mode and restarting it but that didn't work. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Any advice would be appreciated!
SU-42118-6 problem
The fact that I have a FAULTY disc drive while the system is only 2 years old is my point. I want to put hundreds of dollars towards a system that doesn’t do stupid ***** like this. Or maybe an update that doesn’t require a hardware check so I can still play my digital games online. So before gettingmouthy while sitting in your parents basement and not putting your hard earned money into something think about it. Why should I pay extra money for something I had nothing to do with? So excuse me but yes I would like Sony to snap their fingers and fix my problem free of charge.
SU-42118-6 problem
It's not just this one. Since people were caught with hacked firmware in the past, they have implemented this Hardware check before an update. It is just to prevent people who have hacked console from updating.

It ain't nothing to do with the net mate , it's Sony's problem seeing as a simple update seems to have screwed a hell of a machines .
PS4 won't support external hard drive
Unplug it safely from the Settings> Devices Menu and then do this:
- Power off your PlayStation 4 and do not use rest mode.
- Hold the power button down until you hear two quick beeps. ...
- Connect your DualShock 4 controller to your USB-A slot in the front of the PlayStation 4.
- Scroll down in the menu until you reach option 5 called Rebuild Database.

Either pout about it or repair it.
SU-42118-6 problem
Going by page views of this topic and a few other similar topics and unique visitors this isn't a huge problem at all considering nearly 100 million PS4 units have been sold, this topic hasn't even hit 15000 views and even if it hit 100,000 views it would still be a small percentage of affected units.
SU-42118-6 problem
It's not hacking as in someone has access to it. It's hacking as in Modifying the Console's Hardware.
The idea is that because people modified console they do this hardware check. If the console has a hardware issue, it won't update and needs to be repaired to update it.
