Ok. I hope this helps some people here who have said they have issues with their controller syncing, even in safe mode. This was my issue, and I believe it was fault in the controller hardware.
I was stuck on an error screen everyone I put my PS4 on SU-30645-8 but this was a direct result of v5.0 downloading an being corrupted. I borrowed a friend's controller and wire earlier and voila I could actually navigate the menus in safe mode and could X past the error screen on regular mode.
To cut it short, what worked for me was going into safe mode. And rebuilding the system option. This still led me back to the error screen afterwords, but I X past it back into the PS4 home screen. Then I went into options and switched off all automatic downloads, to keep the download from doing whatever it wanted and downloading by itself. Then I shut the PS4 down normally, using the controller. Restarted in safe mode and selected update system . The update 5.0 downloaded without a hitch this time.
System saved. I hope it's the same result for many of you. And the rest, I hope Sony get their schitt together and give the free fixes to their mess.

PS4 Pro random black screen dropouts
Hey there Rich. I’m having the same exact issue with my pro for as long as I can remember. Switched out the one box and still have the random 2-3 sec drop outs.
I have a Xbox one s and have never had issues. Play mostly on the Xbox as well so it’s not a matter of not playing on it enough. For my case in particular too, even when I push 1080p I still get issues on the pro. Playing games or watching on Amazon.
I plan on purchasing the One X and I really hope the same doesn’t happen with that.

PS4 System Software Update 5.00 [03/10/17]
Update 5.00 has been giving me trouble since 10/22/17. It started off with my system crashing 10-12 times in a row and now it saids it needs to update the update 5.00. What do i do? I've downloaded it 3 times now and it still saids i need to update..

PS4 Pro random black screen dropouts
I get the few second blackouts when playing in automatic mode and sometimes even in yuv420. It’s rare though in that setting. Hasn’t happened in 1080p at least not yet. I’ve been trying to coordinate a time to test my pro out on my friends LG tv and see if it blacks out. Im Thinking it’s the tv because with the optimum cable box there is no sound unless I switch UHD colors off. Blackouts occur on the pro only when that setting is on. It has something to do with the UHD color setting. I really want to get the X but I’m skeptical as well. I may just settle for the S if that’s not causing problems, won’t have the picture quality or performance the X has but it’s half the price and has a 4k player. I’ll see what happens when I finally test it out on my friends LG. Will the S still have the newer games in hdr or are they fizzling that out due to the X?

So I called Sony, and this girl has the audacity to say that it is my fault that the system won't update. She said that "Well that must mean your wifi is not compatible with the update, you should talk with your Internet Provider and see if you can upgrade to better internet" I had to pause for a little bit to think this through, because my internet Download and Upload speed was on point.
